The Jaguar E-Pace is Jaguar's first compact SUV. Model presentation took place in July 2017 in London. The novelty immediately got into the Guinness Book of Records by performing aerobatics "barrel".

In the lineup of Jaguar, the new E-Pace is located one step below the crossover F-Pace, challenging cars like Audi Q3, BMW X1 And Mercedes-Benz GLA. With an overall length of 4395 mm, "E-Pace" turned out to be the smallest representative of the "cat family". For this reason, the off-road vehicle received the original marking - an image of an adult jaguar (Jaguar F-Pace) is applied to the windshield, followed by a cub (E-Pace). The same pattern is projected onto the embarkation / disembarkation area when the illumination lamps in the side mirrors are turned on.

The construction of the Jaguar E-Pace combines high-strength steel and aluminum. So, the hood, front air intakes, roof and fifth door are made of “winged metal”. At the same time, the transverse beam of the body, to which the instrument panel is attached, is cast from a light magnesium alloy, and the side parts are made of high-ductility steel with a thickness of 7 mm. Thanks to this, Jaguar engineers lowered the center of gravity and weight of the car, which had a positive effect on the economy and dynamic performance of the car.

The layout is classic for the class - the engine is located transversely, the main drive is front. In terms of wheelbase (2681 mm), the E-Pace was ahead of the BMW X1, Audi Q3, and even a relative of the JLR concern - Range Rover Evoque. In addition, the model received a practical compartment under the central armrest of the front seats and a trunk of good capacity - 577 liters under the shelf and 1234 liters with the second row backs folded down.

Also distributed throughout the cabin are four 12-volt outlets, five USB connectors, a 10-inch Touch Pro media system display, front, side and curtain airbags. Another airbag is located at the lower edge of the windshield - in the event of a collision with a pedestrian, it raises the hood, protecting the victim from a hard collision with the A-pillars. The list of options includes: a panoramic roof, a power tailgate with touch-free kick activation under the bumper, a keyless entry system, adaptive headlights, car parking, a 12.3-inch virtual dashboard, a head-up display, a Wi-Fi hotspot and other equipment.

Engines - petrol and diesel "turbo-four" from the Ingenium family with a volume of 2.0 liters. They are available in five varieties.

Diesel:

• D150 - power 150 hp at 3500 rpm, torque - 380 Nm at 1750 rpm. The front-wheel drive version is equipped with a 6-speed "mechanics". All-wheel drive can be equipped with both a manual transmission and a 9-speed "automatic" from ZF;
• D180 - power 180 hp at 4000 rpm, torque - 430 Nm at 1750 rpm. All-wheel drive only. Gearboxes: "mechanics" or "automatic";
• D240 - power 240 hp at 4000 rpm, torque - 500 Nm at 1500 rpm. Four-wheel drive and "automatic".

Petrol:

• P250 - power 249 hp at 5500 rpm, torque 365 Nm at 1200-4500 rpm. Four-wheel drive and "automatic";
• P300 - power 300 hp at 5500 rpm, torque 400 Nm at 1500-4500 rpm. Four-wheel drive and "automatic".

On vehicles with 150, 180 and 249 hp engines. all-wheel drive is implemented through a multi-plate clutch that connects the rear axle if necessary. And the most productive petrol and diesel versions received an Active Driveline system with electronically controlled multi-plate clutches for each of the rear wheels and an additional clutch that disables the axle along with the cardan, turning the all-wheel drive crossover into a front-wheel drive. Adaptive shock absorbers are available for a surcharge for the E-Pace.

Jaguar E-Pace with 249 hp engine accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 7.0 seconds, while the flagship modification with a return of 300 hp. reaches this speed in 6.4 seconds. For cars with the R-Dynamic package (includes a set of decorative trims on the outside and in the cabin, fringing wheel arches to match the body color and other visual differences), shift paddles are available.

The Jaguar E-Pace compact crossover is the first Jaguar to be produced outside the UK. Instead, mass production of the model for the European market has been established at the Magna Steyr plant in Graz, Austria. And the E-Pace for China will be produced at the Chery Jaguar Land Rover plant in Changshu.
