Description Jaguar I-Pace

Jaguar I-Pace - the first production Jaguar crossover with an electric power plant. The conceptual version of the model was presented in November 2016 at the Los Angeles Auto Show, and the production version of the British submitted March 1, 2018 at a special event in Austria.

In the early stages of designing the I-Pace electric car, Jaguar designers were inspired by the Jaguar C-X75 supercar with a short rear overhang, a teardrop-shaped profile and a curved rear window. So it turned out to be a crossover with an unusually forward-shifted body, a high waist line and retractable door handles, which is unusual for such a class of cars. To optimize the temperature regime of the units and improve aerodynamics, active blades are installed in the front of the body. They open when the motors need cooling, and when closed, the air flow is redirected to the hood, smoothly flowing around the body of the electric car.

The Jaguar I-Pace is built on Jaguar Land Rover's new electric vehicle platform. Suspension and steering elements of the I-Pace are partially unified with the Range Rover Velar. A double lever is used in front, a multi-link scheme with an “integral” lower lever is used in the back. For a surcharge, instead of springs, pneumatic elements are offered.

With an overall length of 4682 mm, the I-Pace is 49 mm shorter than the flagship Jaguar SUV - F-Pace, but at the same time, it surpasses the “relative” by as much as 116 mm in terms of wheelbase (2990 mm). In addition, do not forget about the compact motors front and rear and the absence of a cardan shaft. Thanks to this, the designers of the British brand carved out additional legroom for second-row passengers and the trunk - 665 liters in the standard position of the second-row backrests and 1453 liters - with folded backs (folded in a ratio of 60:40). And under the rear seats of the crossover there are special trays for storing laptops and tablets.

The interior of the Jaguar I-Pace, which is stylistically similar to the interiors of the XE, F-Pace and E-Pace models, features a large touch-screen center console, a touch-sensitive climate control unit, and a virtual instrument panel. They are linked by the Touch Pro Duo infotainment system. It is the first Jaguar to feature automatic software updates via the internet and the first to feature a new navigation system that can predict range based on an analysis of the owner's driving style. 

The Remote smartphone app allows you to remotely control some of the crossover's functions. In this way, the program can be used to pre-heat or cool the passenger compartment and the battery during charging, thus reducing battery consumption while driving.

The Jaguar I-Pace battery is located under the floor and is integrated into the power structure of the body. It is assembled from 432 lithium-ion "cells" arranged in 36 modules. The power reserve of I-Pace in the WLTP test cycle is 480 km. Wall-mounted "charging" with a capacity of 7 kW charges the battery in 10 hours, but in addition to this, the car can also be "fed" from 100-kilowatt fast charging stations. In this case, in 15 minutes the crossover is charged for 100 km, and in 40 minutes - up to 80%.

Two permanent magnet synchronous motors develop 400 hp. power and 696 Nm of torque. Acceleration 0-100 km/h takes just 4.8 seconds, and top speed is limited to 200 km/h.

I-Pace batteries are equipped with a dual-loop liquid cooling system to maintain operating temperature over a wide range of ambient temperatures. Before the start of mass production, crossover prototypes drove 2.5 million km in Europe, North America and Asia at temperatures from -40 to +40 ° C. And although the ground clearance of 142 mm does not promise anything serious for driving on rough terrain, during the tests, the prototypes successfully coped with a ford 500 mm deep.

In Ukraine, the Jaguar I-Pace is available in S, SE and HSE versions, as well as in a limited First Edition. Already in the basic equipment, the electric crossover is equipped with 6 airbags, LED headlights, sports front seats with electric adjustment in 8 directions and the Meridian media system. In addition, option packages with parking assistance and safe driving systems in the city and on the highway are available for the first production Jaguar electric car.
