Jaguar F-Type Convertible - rear-wheel or all-wheel drive double convertible, which premiered in November 2013 almost simultaneously at two world auto shows: in Los Angeles and Tokyo. The car is built on the same platform as the F-Type coupe. The restyled version of the model was presented in December 2019.
The updated F-Type received a more predatory design of the headlights, an enlarged front air intake, larger air ducts in the hood, different taillights and bumpers. For a surcharge, matrix LED headlights with direction indicators in the form of a running line became available for the car.
Serious changes have taken place in the cabin. The dashboard is no longer analog, but completely digital, in the form of a 12.3-inch display, on which you can display a navigation map and change the appearance of the virtual scales of the speedometer and tachometer. The new Touch Pro multimedia system features a larger touchscreen and over-the-air software updates. In addition, the already impressive list of possible interior trim options has been updated.
Another innovation is of a technical nature and is associated with the acoustic comfort of the people around the car. We are talking about the new standard function Quiet Start, with which the engine starts by default in "quiet mode" with closed dampers in the exhaust tract, so as not to disturb the peace of the neighbors. If you still need a loud sound during startup, the quiet mode will have to be turned off in advance by pressing a separate button.
The base modification is considered to be a two-liter turbo four (300 hp, 400 Nm), an eight-speed “automatic” and rear-wheel drive. The Jaguar F-Type with a V6 3.0 compressor engine (380 hp, 460 Nm) was excluded from the European range, although for other markets such cars will still be made in rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations.
Also in the engine lineup is a derated modification of the V8 5.0 engine with a mechanical supercharger. The new version of the power unit, which was already installed on the F-Type from 2012 to 2014 (then it produced 495 and 625 Nm), develops 450 hp. and 580 Nm, but it meets modern environmental requirements. Vehicles with a V8 engine can be rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
The “charged” Jaguar F-Type R is equipped with a V8 5.0 engine, the output of which has been increased from 550 hp. and 680 Nm up to 575 hp and 700 Nm. The eight-speed "automatic" has been finalized, making it faster to shift gears. New springs, shock absorbers and stabilizers are installed on the coupe, the rear suspension joints are changed, wider tires are installed in the stock.
Jaguar F-Type convertibles and coupes are produced at the Jaguar Land Rover plant in the UK.
